How
to Access your H: drive from Anywhere
By installing a piece of software on your computer at home
it is possible to access your H: drive from home. This will enable you to retrieve files
from your H: drive when you are at home, and also to place files from home onto
your H: drive. (It does not enable
you to run or edit any file directly;
you must copy it to your home PC, work on it and then copy it (drag and
drop) back to the special pseudo-H: drive location.)
This can be useful if you work both at the School and at
home. It is a much more secure way
to transfer files between locations than by putting them onto a USB drive and
risking the loss or theft of this before you arrive.
For this to work it requires that you obtain and install a
special “client software” program called Ranger Outpost. Ranger Outpost will run only on PCs. It
has not been written to run on a Mac.
1. How
to Obtain the Client Software
